We ended the Home Office’s use of a racist visa streaming algorithm

Foxglove and the Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants won the UK’s first challenge to a public sector algorithm. In 2020, we asked the Court to declare a racist streaming algorithm, in use since 2015, unlawful and to order a halt in its use to assess visa applications. But before the case could be heard, the Home Office caved in!

We made A Level grading fair for all

Foxglove, together with A Level student Curtis Parfitt-Ford, forced the government to U-turn on the disastrous A-level algorithm. This happened in the wake of our judicial review threats, mass petitions, and national disgust. The government finally axed the grading algorithm in favour of teachers’ assessed grades.
